It is pouring down rain in Melbourne and I just finished two hours on the wind trainer. After ten days in the beautiful Queensland sun, it is hard to be back in Melbourne where the weather can be sunny and warm one day and cold and rainy the next. Luckily, it was hot yesterday and I managed to go on a 140km ride in the Dandies with Chris. After doing hill repeats and climbing 2,100m, I was pretty tired when I arrived home after five hours of riding. I had an amazing time in Coolum and I honestly would consider moving there. The beaches are beautiful, the roads are nicely paved, there aren’t many stop lights, the people are friendly, and the hills aren’t bad either! It was wonderful to finally meet my coach, Wazza, and he ended up motorpacing me on Sunday. Riding behind a motorcycle was so much fun! We were going up and down the street doing 50kph (the speed limit) and I couldn’t wipe the smile off of my face. This week is a big week in my training block which means by Sunday I will probably be crawling on the floor from exhaustion. It is nice to be back with my Bike Gallery training partners and in familiar territory where big snakes won’t pop out from the bushes. I recently learned how tough female cyclists need to be if they want to make it to the big leagues.
