  1. Nicole,
I am so glad you are on the path to recovery. Its a long process but I know you will ace it. My sister was recently hit by an SUV while riding her bike and is recovering. Like you, she hates to be idle and that has probably been the hardest part of recovery. However, she has found that setting small goals every day gets her through. Know that good thoughts are being sent your way from all over the world!

  2. I was in a similar situation a couple months back so thought I’d drop you a note. I met you on a ride when you were living in Melbourne. I’m an expat American from Aspen but lived in Mountain View for a few years. Any way, I was involved in a hit and run on Beach Rd down by Frankston back in November. Lucky they caught the guy but I have yet to hear what the charges will be. The bastard ran me over. I too was lucky but am up and nearly 100%. With continued good recovery, I should be back on the road before the end of summer. My injury list was 7 broken ribs (each rib fractured no less than 3 times), punctured lung, broken collarbone (of course we’re cyclists :) ), bleeding in the brain, and the obligatory abrasions on the knees. It’s feels like forever since I’ve been back on the bike but I know I’ll be back. Funny the safest part for me is I have to wait a few more months before I get my bike. I had a custom frame from Crumpton Cycles in Austin and am back on his wait list.

I’ll leave you back to your healing. Best wishes for your recovery!!!!

  3. Dear Nicole, your very positive attitude and outlook are amazing. In those moments when it gets discouraging you just go back and read your post, get a hug from your hubby and never give up. You are in our thougths and prayers….Ruth

  4. Hi Nicole, that is not the sort of cycling blog post anyone wants to read :( Despite the events that occurred, I have no doubt your positive attitude will assist you in a speedy recovery. All the best with getting back on your feet and eventually wheels. I hope you can return to form and continue cycling hard and blogging hard as well!

    All the best =)

  5. Hi, Nicole!
So happy to hear that your recovery is going so well. Stay positive :)
You were a lucky girl before the accident. Now you’re lucky enough to realize how lucky you are!
    I hope that makes sense…?
    All the best, Carolyn
